Why This Report Matters.
Organizations invest millions of dollars each year to identify high-potential talent, develop future leaders, and strengthen succession pipelines. Yet one of the greatest barriers to organizational performance remains largely invisible, not a shortage of capable people, but unequal access to the relationships, sponsorship, and opportunities that determine who advances.
For Black women, the disconnect is particularly striking. They continue to achieve record levels of educational advancement, demonstrate resilience, and enter the workforce prepared to lead. Yet these accomplishments too often fail to produce proportional progression, compensation, or representation in positions of influence.
This report argues that instead of lack of talent, the issue is lack of access.
